A pediment is the decorative crown above a door, window or portico. Its shape, usually triangular or arched, frames the opening and emphasizes the entrance.
- What types of pediments are there?
Common types are triangular, segmental (arched), broken, scroll and flat crossheads. We can make each in custom sizes.
- What is the difference between a segmental and a triangular pediment?
A triangular pediment has a straight, gabled top, while a segmental pediment has a shallow curved top. The choice depends on the architectural style.
- Can pediments be used over windows as well as doors?
Yes. We make window pediments and door pediments, and can match them so the façade reads as one composition.
- What are your exterior pediments made of?
High-density EPS with a polyurea hard coat that resists moisture, UV and cracking.
- How are pediments installed?
Usually with adhesive and fasteners, depending on the wall surface. Guidance is included with each order.
