A large planter can anchor an entrance, frame a walkway or soften a plaza. Decorative Architectural Shapes makes antique-style flower pots and large outdoor planters in classic urn, bowl and vase forms, with a stone-like finish and a weight far below real stone or ceramic.

Why not stone or ceramic

Large plant pots in concrete, stone or ceramic are heavy and fragile. They crack in frost, chip in transport and need machinery to move. Our planters are CNC-cut from high-density EPS and covered with a polyurea hard coat, so they can be carried by two people and placed without a crane. The coating resists moisture, UV and cracking, and the surface can imitate aged stone, terracotta or weathered metal. Large vintage outdoor planters keep the look of antique garden ware with none of the handling problems.

Forms and uses

Urn, bowl, vase and pedestal shapes suit formal gardens, hotel entrances, retail streets and residential estates. Bowl planters and extra large planters for outside work well along a façade or at a gate, and outdoor commercial planters can be repeated in a row for a consistent look. A planter can also hold a tree or a shrub when the design includes a liner and drainage. Matching pedestals and columns can be supplied from the same catalog.

Scale and placement matter more than ornament. A pair of tall urns at a door, a row of bowl planters along a wall or a single large vessel at a garden axis can organize a whole space. For commercial sites, identical planters set the rhythm along a promenade, and a damaged piece can be replaced from the same drawing, so the layout stays consistent for years.

If you are looking for the best antique flower pots, start with proportion and the finish rather than the age. Antique outdoor flower pots in urn, bowl and vase forms suit entrances and gardens, and antique vintage flower pots and planters in a stone or terracotta finish keep the old-world look without the fragility of the originals.
