The right cap finishes a pier, fence post or balustrade newel. Our PC series covers ball-top caps, stepped and domed styles, and flat and low-profile caps for square and round posts. Each one is sized to your post’s diameter or width. Posts can also be fitted with a lamp or lantern to light driveways and entrances at night.
Cad drawings
Finials and ornamental caps are made to a dimensioned drawing. Send us the post or column size, the shape of the top and a photo of the project, and we draw the finial, the cap and any post base or column pedestal stand with the profile and fit marked. You approve the drawing and finish before production. If your architect or the HOA needs a particular style, mention it in the brief.
Application
Finials and ornamental caps finish gate posts, fence posts, porch columns, balustrade posts, mailbox and lamp posts, and entrance piers on homes, estates and commercial properties. A decorative finial gives a plain decorative post a clear top, and a cap completes a pier or column. Lightweight foam pieces are easy to lift into place, so small crews can work without cranes.
Installation and documents
The cap or finial is fixed to the top of the post or column with adhesive and mechanical fasteners, sealed at the joint and finished with a stucco base coat, paint or polyurea coating. An installation guide comes with every order. The same method applies to column covers exterior pieces and to a post base. Post structure, anchoring and local code stay with your architect and installer.
Customization
Choose the finial shape, cap profile, size and the way it fits the post: square, round or tapered. A matching porch column wrap and column pedestal pieces can be added so the whole column reads as one set. Finishes include smooth, stone-look, aged or painted. Send a sketch or a photo with the post dimensions and we propose a design.
Payment
The price of your finial or column cap depends on the profile, size, quantity and finish. We accept PayPal, Visa and Mastercard. The payment schedule is written in your quote, and production begins after the drawing is approved and the order is confirmed. Freight is quoted with the order, and a larger number of identical pieces on one project lowers the price per piece.
Exchange and return
Every finial and ornamental cap is made to order from your approved drawing, so it cannot be returned or exchanged for a change of mind. Please inspect the shipment on delivery, note any damage on the carrier’s paperwork and photograph it before unpacking. If a piece arrives damaged or does not match the approved drawing, contact us right away and we will repair or remake it. Our products carry a 20-year warranty.
